Miriam Desgazon, MSW, LICSW, is a social worker in the Online Intensive Outpatient Program for College Students and Emerging Adults in Massachusetts at the Austen Riggs Center.
In addition, she is a dedicated clinical supervisor and family clinician at the Institute for Health and Recovery (IHR) where she passionately serves families grappling with dual diagnoses and Department of Children and Families (DCF) involvement. In addition to her impactful work with IHR, Miriam also runs a thriving small private practice based in Northampton, MA.
 
A proud alumna of Smith College School for Social Work, Miriam attained her MSW in August 2020 and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her practice, drawing from her strong foundation in BSW. Her clinical approach is deeply rooted in psychoanalytic concepts, utilizing a brief psychodynamic approach that encompasses developmental theory, attachment theory, and trauma-informed care. Miriam firmly believes in the power of cultural competence and applies a culturally sensitive lens to her therapeutic interventions. She adopts a relational approach to empower her clients on their healing journey, fostering a safe and supportive environment for growth.
Miriam's dedication to her profession has also afforded her unique opportunities to present her work at esteemed national and international conferences, such as the 2023 Spring Meeting of Division 39 of the American Psychological Association, further solidifying her reputation as a respected clinician in the field.
